You may remember some while ago, we talked about Retro Surge games who are relatively new comers to the Dreamcast publishing market talking about an upcoming game called Reaperi Cycle which was due to be released this year – as it transpires, this project is now no longer being actively developed, with a demo available elsewhere on the Internet, you can experience what could have been with this title should you feel the need.

Anyway, thankfully Retro Surge are set to publish a few projects on the DC this year, last of which is Summoning Signals, which is developed by the same guys as Reaperi Cycle, it’s a an odd concept, something the console hasn’t been graced with thus far to my knowledge, to which you can check out some early asset work and progress over at the place to be for all Dreamcast happenings – https://www.dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11597

Summoning Signals tasks the player to decode mysterious signals via task management of solar panels, from what I can see from the project thread, Reaperi Cycle’s engine is being used to some extent for this project rising from the ashes. Whether this game will meet it’s Winter 2020 release date is going to be interesting as work is still very early.

Next up is something that is due to be released far nearer, Flight of the Amazon Queen, first released in 1995 on the PC, this point and click adventure game is very much in the vein of LucusArts titles such as Monkey Island.

One would hope that this release will be based upon the 20th anniversary version that graced mobile platforms back in 2016 that added improved graphics, voice acting and other bonus materials. Flight of the Amazon Queen is set for release in the Summer with two other un-announced projects also slated for release in this time frame as well.
