If, like me, you were one of the folk who pre-order Driving Strikers in it’s PAL blue box edition and were wondering where, after almost a year it had got to, wonder no more!
Recently things had got a little silent on when we could expect this version of the game and indeed, Wave Game Studios in general have been very quiet with what they’ve got planned for the Dreamcast this year. As it turns out, there have been various factors that have played a part in to why Driving Strikers PAL Limited Edition has been held up, the brothers that run Wave have had their fair share of things in their personal lives that have played a part and also the pre-orders for this particular release perhaps weren’t as great as expected which of course would lead to manufacturing delays one would expect.
Personally, I had almost given up that this variation of the game was going to materialise, it wouldn’t be the first time that a publisher had held pre-orders for a game with the best intentions and been unable to deliver for a wide array of reasons. It should be noted that Wave were more than happy to refund any unhappy to wait customer and unlike other publishers, haven’t actually quit the Dreamcast scene and gone.
I’m fairly certain that Wave will be back with some new games for the Dreamcast, perhaps not this year but certainly, you can’t keep the passion for the DC at bay for long! Those lucky customers who are expecting Driving Strikers in one of those beautiful but oh-so-fragile PAL boxes, can expect these to begin shipping on July 24th 2024.
